DARLENE & JOE BAHR

Darlene and Joe have been married for 43 years (and still really like each other!)

Darlene has sung and ministered in 100’s of prisons across the US and Mexico in the last 25

years with big ministries at evangelism events. Joe accompanied her on many events but wasn’t

given the opportunity to engage in his passion which is discipleship. What the Lord has put on

our hearts is to marry our giftedness—Darlene’s burden for the marginalize and incarcerated

and Joe’s passion for Discipling and building men….and the Lord has opened (and we mean

wide open) prisons for us in Texas!

Hope Beyond Bars purpose is to equip offenders and staff on the Jesus model of Discipleship

and Evangelism. This will be done by creating a partnership with core leaders (offenders) in

targeted prisons to create, demonstrate, and live out this model. This model of ministry (that

we know of) doesn’t exist currently in the vast majority of prisons today.

Not only will the core leadership (offenders) in prisons lead in this effort, but also Hope Beyond

Bars will partner with willing churches (local and out of state) to help offenders carry out this

mission by helping, serving, and partnering in events and/or trainings in prisons. This effort will

be similar to a “mission trip”.

Darlene loves to sell/make her unique/fun antique jewelry, and to sing to men in uniform.
