Stephen Milburn
Stephen Milburn is a Colorado native, born in Boulder and raised right there in the bubble! He’s the proud dad of two boys and happily married to the most aggravatingly attractive woman on the planet - inside and out.
He holds the eighth-grade record for traversing the pegboard, was once voted Most Likely to Run with Scissors, and known to try anything twice. He enjoys multi-day bike rides, peppered beef jerky, and the peculiar magic of people who wear red and pink together. He’s an INFP and Enneagram Four through and through.
Stephen holds a Master’s in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from Denver Seminary. He serves as a spiritual director for faith leaders across the country, a devoted retreat guide for The Praxis, a trusted teaching leader in his church, and a valued lecturer at Denver Seminary.
These days, Stephen’s deepest passion is helping others navigate the uncharted terrain of their spiritual lives - recovering the depth, substance, and beauty hidden in the moments that often feel ordinary or disconnected.
ministry Brief
Contemplative Discipleship is a slower, gentler way to deepen your life with God.
Life with God can feel like a bit of a puzzle these days. We talk about God, learn about God, even serve God. But somewhere along the way, it’s easy to lose touch with actually being with God.
Our faith can become more about information than transformation, more about what we do for God than who we become in God, and before we know it, the joy and wonder that once felt exciting and interesting starts to feel...well, a little dull and tiering.
Contemplative Discipleship exists to help people notice God’s loving activity in the ordinary moments of their everyday life. Instead of rushing toward spiritual achievement or checking the next box on a “growth plan,” we pause to pay attention to what’s right here, right now.
Unlike many discipleship programs that focus on doing more or getting “better,” Contemplative Discipleship invites a deeper being. The goal isn’t only to live a life like Christ, but to live a life as connected to the Source of Life as Christ was.
Slow down. Pay attention. Let joy find you right where you are.
